SPEAK OUT
Taxpayers and Residents, get busy. Make noise, a lot of noise, so much noise our Quality of Life issues and needs cannot be ignored for the benefit of developers.
SHAME ON MIDDLETOWN OFFICIALS. A Redevelopment designation was be used by Middletown officials to fast track a massive Retail/Residential and Township plan with no regard for Residents' concerns or participation. The Township Plan gives more benefits to the developers than concern for our Quality of Life. WE CAN NOT LET THIS HAPPEN. The parent company of Stop Village 35, Minding Middletown LLC, has filed a lawsuit challenging the Township’s “area in need of Redevelopment” designation. This was done on the advice of our Attorney, as the best way to stay involved in the outcome of the project. At this point, the Township refuses to meet with the Public until the lawsuit is settled. Their action is disingenuous. Residents, you must stay involved. Email. Call. Write. The Township will reply: due to a lawsuit, public meetings are “legally impossible." Regardless, it's important to have your concerns entered into record. |

Please continue emailing and writing to the Township officials. Speak out in your written messages, voicing the opinions and questions you would have shared in a public meeting.
IT'S IMPORTANT TO HAVE YOUR CONCERNS ON RECORD.
ASK WHY:
- No open useable space for public
- 3000+ cars on site at peak hours with current project density
- The Township will not meet with the residents to hear their concerns. Their lawsuit is with Minding Middletown LLC, not the public.
- They are pushing for a plan that is not appropriate for the location
- They are creating kill zones with the wetlands
- They are threatening the Quality of life of Middletown residents
ASK ABOUT THE TRAFFIC STUDY that includes the Town Hall Municipal Complex, Hazard Island, and the Circus Redevelopment's destination super market, Wegmans as part of its 342,000 sq ft of Retail and 350 homes.
- Does the study include amended data for all the new and incoming development (ex: Town Hall, Taylor Lane, Sears/ShopRite... )?
- What are the plans to keep the traffic out of our neighborhoods?
- What are the plans to ease the additional traffic congestion and demands on police, fire, and school services that would result?
ASK ABOUT TAX ABATEMENTS:
- Will the proposed redevelopment of the Circus Liquors site and/or Town Hall project have a PILOT agreement (Payments in Lieu of Taxes)?
- When will the Public be made aware of the contract, specifically what % of dollars are going to our schools?
OTHER TOPICS:
- Ask which Township professionals are being consulted in the redevelopment planning. Tell them you would like to see outreach to the various Township committees and commissions for their advice and expertise.
- Discuss the importance of Middletown, particularly the areas adjacent to the site, to American history.
- Remind them that what is built on this site in the center of our Town will be their legacy. It will change Middletown forever.
THE PLAN HAS NOT BEEN APPROVED YET!
NOW IS THE TIME TO ACT.
